ILLINOIS CRIME AS USUAL Monday January 26, 2009
Whether Governor Blagojevich is guilty or innocent is beyond these few sentences. But what is readily apparent is his remarks that he will not get a fair trial can be said to ring true. The US prosecutor has requested the impeachment proceedings tribunal not allow evidence which may arise in his criminal trial. This is wholly irresponsible of a prosecutor. If he wished to see the governor receive a fair impeachment hearing he could ask that the impeachment proceeding be postponed as is done in every other case which has similar issues. US attorney Fitzgerald could acquiesce to the evidence being introduced. But an impeached governor is much easier to convict in a criminal trial then one who is not. US Attorney uses shield of fairness as sword.
